I’m a music instructor with 8 years of experience in one-on-one lessons, chamber music coaching, audition preparation, and orchestral sectionals.

My pedagogical approach is influenced heavily by the research and practices of Dr. Robert A Duke and Dr. Laurie Scott. I believe all of my students have the capability to produce at the highest level and I teach them, in a step by step fashion, how to draw that out of themselves.

Learning any new skill is like setting out to sail in an ocean of information - a daunting (and exciting!) task by any measure. There are seemingly infinite places to explore, so it can be easy to get lost at sea. My job as an educator is to guide my students through these waters, show them how to weather harsher waters, and embolden them to explore as far and wide as they can. Just as a captain can make decisions about what they need to do to smoothly transverse the seas, I want my students to have a unique musical perspective about how to create a beautiful sound and powerful phrase. Along the way, it is my goal to make sure they have fun, think critically about the work they are doing, be creative in their questioning and problem solving, and develop a thorough technical understanding of their craft.

I have experience working with many different schools throughout Middle Tennessee and Central Texas as a private lessons teacher, teaching masterclasses, and teching for marching bands. For the 2023-2024 season, I also worked with the the Longhorn Marching Band as a teaching assistant with a focus on the trombone section, and the Longhorn Pep Band as a teaching assistant where I functioned as an assistant director.

Student successes include successfully auditioning into local youth orchestras, jazz bands, community bands, and top school ensembles; placement into top chairs of the Tennessee All-State process and Texas Region Band process; and acceptance to the Carnegie Hall Honors Performance Series.
